little clown face painting is probably the only face painting company in the world to have been founded by an eleven-year-old. The company – formerly called Face Painters Extraordinaire – was formed in London, UK, in the mid-eighties by a very young girl called Clare Wigfall who caught the face painting bug after helping out at her junior school summer fête. At the time, she wasn’t much bigger or older than those whose faces she was painting. We have here a comparison of then and now to amuse you:

After a brief hiatus for the company, during which time Clare had the chance to grow up a little and move abroad, little clown was refounded in Prague, Czech Republic, in early 2004. Gaining success largely through word of mouth, little clown face painting has fast become Prague’s best-loved face painting company, and has painted literally hundreds of faces at parties all over the city. We now have a team of trained painters who can be called on for larger events, and since early 2006 have been involved in an ongoing volunteer project to take face painting into Czech children’s homes and orphanages.
